This product is a combination of Setria® Glutathione, vitamin C, and milk thistle extract.

Glutathione is an amino acid with many important functions. Glutathione not only neutralizes free radicals by itself, but it is also an antioxidant that has the ability to reactivate other antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E. After anti-oxidants like vitamin C and vitamin E neutralize free radicals, they become unstable radicals themselves. Glutathione helps recycle these unstable molecules, returning them to active duty and extending their abilities to scavenge for and neutralize oxidants.

Glutathione also supports the liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract and intestines, the organism’s major detoxification pathways. Glutathione works in two main ways:

A) It helps eliminate toxins, ingested chemicals, and dangerous substances that the body has already absorbed.

B) It intercepts and neutralizes toxins in the gastrointestinal tract before they are even absorbed by the organism.

Glutathione helps strengthen the immune system in two important ways. First, it plays a central role in the proper function of T-cell lymphocytes (white blood cells), the frontline soldiers of the immune system, by increasing their numbers. Second, there is evidence that glutathione stimulates the production and activity of natural killer (NK) cells.

Glutathione could be beneficial for the skin, the largest human organ. It is known that glutathione reduces melanin production by suppressing the activity of tyrosinase and switching the eumelanin synthesis to pheomelanin synthesis.

Researchers have found that vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and glutathione work in concert, with each helping to replenish and recycle the other. Like glutathione, vitamin C can help boost immune system activity. In fact, research has demonstrated that vitamin C increases production of life protective antibodies and promotes the function of phagocytes, the organism’s scavenger cells. In addition, vitamin C, which has potent antioxidants, is able to promote anti-inflammatory activity, and protect fragile cell membranes preventing damage to cell DNA, important proteins, and enzymes (including glutathione). It is also a cofactor in the production of collagen, essential to arterial and heart health.

Therapeutic use of milk thistle can be traced back more than 2,000 years.
The dried fruit of milk thistle contains a flavonoid complex known as silymarin. This constituent is responsible for the medical benefits of the plant. Silymarin is made up of three parts: silibinin, silidianin, and silicristin. Silibinin is the most active part and largely responsible for the benefits attributed to silymarin. This plant may protect liver cells by blocking the entrance of harmful toxins and helping remove these toxins from the cells. Silymarin is considered a powerful antioxidant.
