Lysine appears in the organism to help it absorb and conserve calcium. Lysine has many functions in the body for a variety of purposes. Since lysine interferes with replication of herpes viruses, it is often used by people with cold sores or genital herpes.
The major food sources containing high lysine are: fish, chicken, beef, lamb, milk, cheese, beans, brewer’s yeast, and bean sprouts.
