Inflammex™
90 Veggie Capsule • 700 mg
This supplement has been formulated to promote immune response. Inflammex™ is a unique combination of herbal extracts, enzymes,
and vitamin D3.

Bromelain is a complex mixture of protease (an enzyme which breaks down proteins and peptides) extracted from pineapple fruit or stem. Although a comprehensive molecular mechanism of action of bromelain has not been completely identified, bromelain is considered an effective therapeutic agent due to its history of safe use and lack of side effects. Bromelain is widely used for its well-recognized properties promoting anti-inflammatory activity, immunomodulatory effects and many more.

A second ingredient used is boswellia. It is a tree that generally comes from India, Ethiopia, and Somalia. Boswellia produces a gum resin called olibanum, also known as frankincense. Boswellic acids have been found to be the most useful and popular of the active components of the resin. Boswellia has shown to promote antiarthritic and anti-inflammatory activity. Also, it has demonstrated to have analgesic properties.

Due to its wide therapeutic actions, curcumin has been added to this supplement. It promotes protection against free radical damage because it is considered a strong antioxidant. Curcumin also promotes the reduction of inflammation by lowering histamine levels and possibly by incrementing production of natural cortisone by the adrenal glands. Clinical studies have also shown that curcumin may promote the defense of the liver from toxic compounds. Preliminary trials in people with rheumatoid arthritis found curcumin to promote anti-inflammatory activity and reduction of pain and stiffness.

A third compound used in this product is ginger. It originated in south-east Asia and then used in many countries for culinary purposes as well as in traditional herbal medicine. The health promoting benefits of ginger are attributed to its rich phytochemistry. Ginger has a wide therapeutic application for many de-generative disorders. It is presently used to promote digestive, cardiovascular, joint health and many more conditions.

White willow bark was used traditionally by herbalists to reduce fever, headaches, and pain. In the late 19th century, the constituent salicylic acid
was isolated from willow bark and became the model for the development of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). The glycoside salicin, from which the organism
can split off salicylic acid, is thought to be the source that promotes the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving actions of willow bark.

The Greek medical literature considered feverfew as an herb that promotes
anti-inflammatory activity. Feverfew contains a range of compounds known
as sesquiterpene lactones. Over 85% of these are a compound called parthenolide. In test tube studies, parthenolide supports activity of inflam-
matory mediators. Several clinical studies have concluded that quercetin and trypsin are effective in promoting anti-inflammatory action as well as assisting in the recovery process of tissue injury.

Vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol also supports the immune system. There is evidence that low levels of vitamin D are linked with higher levels of inflammation.
