Wereke+
120 Capsules • 600 mg
Diabetes mellitus is an inability to metabolize carbohydrates resulting from a lack of production or utilization of insulin. People with this condition are not able to properly process glucose, a type of sugar the body uses for energy. As a result, glucose stays in the blood, causing blood glucose to rise. At the same time, however, the cells of the body can be starved of glucose. Diabetes can lead to several serious conditions involving the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart.

There are two types of diabetes mellitus, type 1 and 2. Childhood-onset diabetes is also called type 1, or insulin-dependent diabetes. This condition needs to be treated with pharmacological therapy since the pancreas is not able to make insulin needed to process glucose. Type 2 or adult-onset diabetes, is non-insulin-dependent diabetes. With type 2 diabetes, the pancreas often makes enough insulin, but the body has trouble using the insulin.

Wereke+™ has been combined with chromium polynicotinate, fenugreek, and alpha lipoic acid, all important components to promote healthy blood sugar levels.

Originally from Northern Mexico, wereke has been used for decades to promote management of glucose levels. Most studies have been evaluated only in animals (mice) with promising results. At the end of the studies,
most mice had improved levels of glycemia, body weight, and triglycerides. Even though research has not yet determined an effective dosage for human use, many people perceive improvement with their condition.

Fenugreek currently grows in many parts of the world. Fenugreek seeds are used medicinally and are high in soluble fiber which helps promote sugar control by slowing down digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. Several studies have shown that fenugreek can improve metabolic symptoms associated with type 2 diabetes in humans by promoting safer levels of blood glucose and improving glucose tolerance.

Since the organism needs a small amount of chromium to stay healthy, it is considered an essential trace element. Chromium is a mineral that was discovered in France in the late 18th century but was not considered a formal nutrient until 1960. The intake of chromium may support blood sugar levels according to research published in the Journal of Diabetes. After reviewing
41 studies on chromium in nutrition, it was concluded that chromium supple-
mentation improved the glycosylated hemoglobin and fasting glucose levels of people with type 2 diabetes. Participants in the study without diabetes did not experience a change in their blood sugar levels suggesting that the mineral is of benefit to diabetics.

Referred to as the universal antioxidant, alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is soluble in both fat and water. ALA is manufactured in the body and found in some foods especially in liver and yeast. ALA has several potential benefits for people with diabetes. It promotes glucose uptake in type 2 diabetes, inhibits glycosylation (the abnormal attachment of sugar to protein), and has been used to improve diabetic nerve damage and reduce pain associated with that nerve damage.
