Artichoke leaves contain active constituents such as cynarin (1,3-dicaffeoylquinic acid), 3-caffeoylquinic acid, and scolymoside. This plant been found to promote choleretic (bile-stimulating) action and good digestive activity. Standardized extract is used to promote liver health and help maintain healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The extract of this plant is also useful for people with a tendency to develop gallstones.
