5-HTP+™
(5-Hydroxytryptophan)
60 Veggie Capsules
This product is a unique combination of 5-HTP, vitamin B6, magnesium, vervain, and ginkgo biloba, formulated to support the nervous system.
Ingredients
The organism uses 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) to synthesize serotonin, an important neurotransmitter involved in normal nerve and brain function. Serotonin appears to play significant roles in sleep, emotional moods, pain control, inflammation, essential peristalsis, and other physiological functions. 5-HTP is not typically obtained in significant amounts through a regular diet. Instead, the body produces 5-HTP from L-tryptophan, an essential amino acid found in protein-rich foods. However, consuming foods high in L-tryptophan does not necessarily lead to a significant increase in 5-HTP levels.
In Europe, 5-HTP has been used for many years as an approved agent for mood disorders such as depression, sleep problems, weight loss, and other health conditions. Many health professionals have seen improvement in mood, physical vitality, and energy levels.
Another ingredient in this product is vitamin B6, the master vitamin for processing amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of all proteins and some hormones. Vitamin B6 helps make and break down many amino acids and is also needed to make serotonin, melatonin, and dopamine.
The use of magnesium for mental health has shown promising benefits. Research has demonstrated that magnesium can promote the recovery of mild depression, improve symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, and reduce hyperactivity in children with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Magnesium has so many different actions in the organism that the exact reason for its clinical effects is difficult to determine.
Due to its bitter taste, herbalists used vervain to promote better digestion. Vervain has also been used in Europe to promote mental health. Glycosides, such as verbenalin and aucubin, may contribute to its activity.
Gingko biloba extract has been studied for its various health benefits. It has been shown to help slow down the progression of age-related diseases, improving blood flow in people with coronary artery disease and reducing symptoms related to depression.
