Dormimax™ is a unique combination of melatonin, vitamins D and E, minerals (calcium and magnesium) and quality herbs formulated to help promote deep sleep and assist overcoming insomnia.

Medical literature defines insomnia as an inability to fall asleep or remain asleep long enough to feel rested, especially when the problem continues over time.

Calcium and magnesium are part of this supplement. Based on Dr. William Sears, pediatrician and writer of several books, calcium assists the brain use the amino acid tryptophan to manufacture the sleep-inducing substance melatonin. On the other hand, magnesium deficiency also contributes to
chronic insomnia. A high magnesium, low aluminum diet has been found to
be associated with deeper and less interrupted sleep.

Melatonin is a natural hormone that regulates the human biological clock. Double-blind research with young adults has shown that melatonin promotes sleep. Other studies have demonstrated that melatonin significantly shortened the time needed to go to sleep, reduced the number of night awakenings, and supported quality of sleep.

The use of valerian root for insomnia and nervous conditions has been common for centuries. This herb contains many different constituents, including volatile oils that appear to promote the contribution of the sedating properties of valerian.

Historically, skullcap has been used as a sedative for people with nervous tension and insomnia. It was and continues to be, commonly combined with valerian for insomnia. One of its constituents, scutellarian, has been reportedly shown to promote mild sedative activity.

Passion flower is used for mild and moderate anxiety in many European countries. Studies have pointed out that the flavonoids in this herb are the primary constituents responsible to promote its relaxing effects.

Hops flowers is recommended by herbalists to promote a mild sedative effect. Hops are high in bitter constituents known as humulone and lupulone.

Lemon balm has been used traditionally for digestive health and to improve quality of sleep. The terpenes, part of the pleasant-smelling volatile oil, are thought to produce this herb’s relaxing and gas-relieving effects.

This supplement also contains eleuthero, a distant relative of Asian ginseng. Eleuthero has many applications in the field of naturopathy. In small amounts, this agent helps the body adapt to stress.

The leaves of ginkgo are used in modern herbalism. The benefits of ginkgo are attributed primarily to two groups of active constituents: the ginkgo flavone glycosides and the terpene lactones. Ginkgo is well-known to have many applications, especially the effects in cognitive function related to age-related cognitive decline.
