Ashwagandha

This supplement is a combination of ashwagandha and two types of vitamins B6 (pyridoxine HCL and pyridoxal -5- phosphate), critical for the maintenance of a healthy nervous system.

Ashwagandha (Whithania sonifera) is frequently used in the Indian Ayurvedic system of medicine. It is used for several kinds of health conditions, especially for the nervous system.  Most scientific studies of this plant have focused on its enhancement and anti-stress effects. In experimental studies, ashwagandha increased the stamina of rats during swimming endurance tests and decreased adrenal gland changes of ascorbic acid and cortisol produced by the stress of swimming. In China, ashwagandha showed significant protection against the development of ulcers caused by stress.  This plant also promotes cognition improvements in children with memory deficits and in the elderly with memory loss.  It was also found useful in neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and Alzheimer’s diseases.  Ashwagandha has gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) imitative effects and was shown to promote the formation of dendrites.

Vitamin B6 as pyridoxine is the 4-methanol form, an important water-soluble vitamin naturally present in many foods.  It is an essential micronutrient required for normal functioning of many biological systems within the organism. Pyridoxine is converted to pyridoxal -5- phosphate in the liver.

Vitamin B6 as pyridoxal -5- phosphate is the active form of this vitamin and it is directly utilized by the body without conversion.  It is involved in a wide range of biochemical reactions including the metabolism of amino acids and glycogen, synthesis of the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and additional processes.

There is clinical evidence that high doses of vitamin B6 significantly reduces feelings of anxiety, stress, and depression.  A study performed by researchers at the University of Reading, England found that an elevated dose of vitamin B6 in young adults taken for more than a month decreased feelings of anxiousness and nervousness. The study shows the growing evidence supporting the use of vitamin B6 to improve cognitive function, mood disorders, and mental well-being.

Black pepper fruit extract (BioPerine®) and ginger root have been added to enhance the absorption of this supplement.

Ashwagandha (Whithania sonifera) is frequently used in the Indian Ayurvedic system of medicine. It is used to help with several health conditions, especially those related to the nervous system. Most scientific research on this plant has primarily focused on its stress-reducing and mood-supporting effects. In experimental studies, ashwagandha was found to improve the stamina of rats in swimming endurance tests and reduce stress-induced changes in the adrenal glands, including alterations in ascorbic acid and cortisol levels. In China, ashwagandha also demonstrated significant protection against the development of ulcers caused by stress.

This plant has been shown to support cognitive improvements in children with memory deficits and in the elderly experiencing memory loss. It was also found to may also have beneficial effects in neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and Alzheimer’s diseases. Ashwagandha exhibits gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-like effects and has been shown to promote the formation of dendrites.

Vitamin B6, in the form of pyridoxine (the 4-methanol form), is an essential water-soluble vitamin naturally found in a variety of foods. A study conducted by researchers at the University of Reading in England found that high doses of vitamin B6 taken by young adults for more than a month helped decrease feelings of anxiousness and nervousness. The study reinforces the growing evidence that vitamin B6 can enhance cognitive function, support mood regulation, and promote overall mental well-being.
