Caprylic Acid
90 Softgels • 600 mg
This product contains caprylic acid extracted from coconut oil. Caprylic acid is considered an antifungal, eight-carbon, short-chain fatty acid. The exact mechanism of its fungicidal action is not yet fully understood. Clinical researchers speculate that caprylic acid partially dissolves the cell membrane of yeast, causing changes in fluidity and permeability that lead to membrane disaggregation (falling apart).
Oral intake of caprylic acid seems to have a time-release action, allowing the fatty acid to undergo slow hydrolysis (release) throughout the intestinal tract. The finely powdered resin complex tends to coat the walls of the stomach and intestines without disrupting the normal balance of gastrointestinal flora.
Caprylic acid appears to be effective against all Candida species and strains and is recommended for candidiasis during any long-term bacterial antibiotic drug therapy.
Combined with other natural antifungal agents, such as garlic, probiotics, or oregano oil, caprylic acid may achieve a broader spectrum of anti-yeast activity compared to many prescription drugs now used against established yeast infections. It has been found to exert strong antimycotic (against fungi) effects.
