Damiana
50 Veggie Capsules
The leaves of damiana were originally used as medicine by indigenous cultures of Central America, particularly Mexico. Today, the plant is found in hot, humid climates, including Mexico and parts of Texas, the Caribbean, and southern Africa.
Damiana has been traditionally regarded as an aphrodisiac since ancient times, particularly among the indigenous peoples of Mexico. Other folk uses have included respiratory problems, neurosis, and various sexual disorders. It has also been promoted as a euphoria-inducing agent.
Most research has focused on the volatile oil of damiana, which includes numerous small, aromatic substances called terpenes. As of yet, it is unclear if the volatile oil is truly the main
active constituent of damiana. Damiana extract has been shown, in laboratory (in vitro) studies, to weakly bind to progesterone receptors, suggesting a possible role in hormonal support.
