EPA-DHA Omega-3

This product contains EPA and DHA, essential omega-3 fatty acids derived from high-quality fish oil. These omega-3 fatty acids, unlike those found in flaxseed oil and other vegetable oils (such as alpha linolenic acid), promote healthy triglyceride levels and improve cardiovascular health.

EPA and DHA also promote anti-inflammatory activity. As a result, fish oil is used for various health conditions. Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil help balance omega-6 fatty acids, which are found mostly in vegetable oils. When these two groups of fatty acids are out of balance, the body releases chemicals that promote inflammation. Some people appear to produce more of these inflammatory chemicals when they are under psychological stress. With a fatty acid imbalance, the inflammatory stress response appears to increase.

EPA and DHA also support immune function, likely through their influence on prostaglandin production. This effect may contribute to promoting healthy cellular reproduction in both animals and humans, although the evidence is still preliminary.

Preliminary evidence suggests that omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil may help support healthy heart rhythm regulation.

Primitive diets have higher levels of EPA and DHA compared to modern and Western diets. As a result, some researchers and health practitioners believe that most people who eat a typical diet are likely not consuming optimal amounts of EPA and DHA. To a limited extent, omega-3 fatty acids from vegetable sources, such as flaxseed oil, can convert to EPA.
