Flaxseed Oil

This product contains linoleic acid, which is an essential fatty acid needed for survival. Unlike most oils, it also contains significant amounts of alpha linolenic acid (ALA).
To a limited extent, ALA is an omega-3 fatty acid that turns in the organism into eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). EPA is an omega-3 fatty acid found in fish oil which converts into beneficial prostaglandins (hormone-like substances made in many parts of the body rather than coming from one organ, as most hormones do).
Research published in 2008 in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition”, reported consumption of ALA supplements over 3 months raised levels of DHA and EPA in the bloodstream. The resulting increase of omega-3 fatty acids may promote cardiovascular health.
There is also evidence that continuous consumption of flaxseed oil could help with regular bowel movements.
