Noni is a plant native to Polynesia. The fruit in powder form which is used in supplements starts out green and turns yellow. Traditional Polynesian herbalists have used the fruit of the noni plant for a broad range of therapeutic applications.
This product contains 650 mg of pure Tahitian morinda citrifolia (Noni) per capsule. The major constituents in noni appear to be polysaccharides and a compound known as damnacanthal. Animal and test tube studies show noni to have immune-enhancing activity, and a previous animal study seemed to indicate the fruit produces a mild sedative effect. Specifically, the polysaccharide component has been shown to increase the release of immune-enhancing compounds that activate white blood cells. Also, damnacanthal is thought to be responsible for producing calming effects in animal studies.
