Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are infections of the kidney, bladder, and urethra. Urinary tract infections are typically caused by bacteria and occur more frequently when there is a partial blockage in the urinary tract. In some individuals, UTIs tend to recur.

Symptoms of a UTI usually start suddenly and include frequent urination that is burning or irritating, a persistent urge to urinate even after the bladder has been emptied, and cramping or pressure in the lower abdomen. The urine often has a strong or unpleasant smell and may appear cloudy. In some serious infections, chills, fever, back pain below the ribs, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may also be present.

In a study, healthy volunteers consumed a large amount of refined sugar (100 grams), and the ability of their white blood cells to destroy bacteria was impaired for at least several hours. Intake of excessive amounts of alcohol has also been shown to suppress immune function. Reduced dietary fat has also been shown to stimulate immunity. People who suffer from recurrent or chronic infections should discuss the possible role of allergies with a physician, since chronic infections have been linked to allergies.

Ury Care™ has been formulated to promote urinary tract health. This supplement is a combination of d-mannose, cranberry, and cinnamon extract.

Ingredients

D-mannose, a simple sugar structurally related to glucose, is often used by health professionals in cases of urinary tract infections caused by E. coli. D-mannose is absorbed slowly in the gastrointestinal tract, with a significant portion excreted through the urine. D-mannose is mostly found in peaches, apples, oranges, cranberries, and blueberries.

Increased global antibiotic resistance and recurrence rates have led to the use of therapeutic alternatives. As a natural alternative, the intake of cranberries in fresh, raw, dried, or juice as well as extracts in capsule form, has been extensively recommended. Cranberry consumption can be effective in reducing the occurrence and severity of UTIs in women and in preventing the adherence of pathogenic bacteria in the urinary tract.

Cinnamon is an ancient herbal remedy mentioned in Chinese texts for as long as 4000 years. It has a broad range of historical uses in different cultures and for several conditions. Several terpenoids found in the volatile oil are believed to account for cinnamon’s medicinal effects. Important among these compounds are eugenol and cinnamaldehyde. Both cinnamaldehyde and cinnamon oil vapors are potent anti-fungal compounds. Studies have shown that cinnamon can stop bacterial growth while also supporting anti-inflammatory activity.
