Vaginal discharge is a normal fluid produced by glands in the vagina and cervix. These glands produce fluids known as vaginal secretions that flow daily in small amounts, clearing away old cells that line the vagina. The frequency of discharge varies from woman to woman. Abnormal discharge may increase in amount and change in color, odor, or texture. Often, this discomfort is experienced with irritation, itchiness, or burning around the vaginal area. These symptoms may be a sign of a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, or a sexually transmitted disease.

Vagiderma™ contains natural oils and sangre de grado (croton lechleri). Sangre de grado resin has a long history of indigenous use in the South American rainforest. Modern research has confirmed the wide applications of sangre de grado for various conditions, including vaginal baths. It is believed to promote anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects.

Scientists have attributed many of the biologically active properties of sangre de grado to two main active constituents: taspine, an alkaloid, and dimethylcedrusine, a lignan.
