Vitamin E
100 Softgels
This product contains natural vitamin E (alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocopherols).
Vitamin E is considered an antioxidant that protects cell membranes and other fat-soluble parts of the body, such as low-density lipoprotein (LDL), “bad cholesterol,” from damage.
Studies suggest that when LDL is oxidized, it increases the risk for heart disease, and vitamin E is an important antioxidant that helps protect LDL from oxidation. Several studies, including two double-blind trials, have reported that 400 to 800 IU of natural vitamin E per day may promote cardiovascular health and reduce risk of disease.
Vitamin E also plays some role in the body’s ability to process glucose. Some, but not all, trials suggest that vitamin E supplementation may eventually prove to help improve glycemic control.
In the last decade, scientists have discovered other functions of vitamin E in cells. In addition to its antioxidant activity, vitamin E is now known to act through other mechanisms, including direct effects on inflammation, blood cell regulation, connective tissue growth, and genetic control of cell division.
