Calcium+
120 Tablets • 500 mg
This product is a combination of calcium citrate malate, magnesium, vitamin D3, and vitamin K2.

There is clear evidence in the health benefits of calcium citrate malate (CCM). CCM has shown to facilitate calcium retention in bone growth in children and adolescents. In adults, it effectively promotes the maintenance of bone mass.

Calcium is considered an essential nutrient that is necessary for many functions in the organism. It is the most abundant mineral in the body with 99% found in teeth and bones. Only 1% of calcium is found in blood serum.

Calcium metabolism involves protein and other compounds such as vitamin D and phosphorus. The formation and maintenance of bone is a lifelong process. Early care for strong bones in childhood and adulthood will provide more stable bone mass during ageing years. Clinical research has shown that adequate calcium intake can reduce the likelihood of fractures, osteoporosis, and even diabetes in some people.

The dietary intake of calcium varies depending on stages of life and gender. Lactose intolerance due to lactase deficiency is a common factor in low calcium intake.

Another mineral playing a significant role in bone development is magnesium. Several studies with animals have proven that magnesium depletion alters bone and mineral metabolism, which results in bone loss and osteoporosis. Magnesium deficiency is very common in women with osteoporosis compared to healthy individuals with levels of magnesium within range.

A combination of calcium with vitamin D3 forms the basis of preventive and therapeutic regimens for osteoporosis. A number of studies have suggested that the intake of calcium and vitamin D3 is effective when administered at a respective dosage. Overall, combining calcium and vitamin D3 appears to be effective in reducing the incidence of fractures. An important finding has determined that vitamin D levels are inadequate in more than half of women treated for osteoporosis in the US and Europe. Calcium citrate formulations may help to prevent abdominal discomfort or flatulence, as well as minimize the risk of renal calculus formation.

The health benefits of vitamin K2 as MK-7 are well recognized by researchers. MK-7 promotes bone health and many more potential benefits. MK-7 has positive effects on blood vessels. A study of 564 postmenopausal women found that the intake of vitamin K2 was associated with reduced coronary calcification. Another study found that daily intake of 90 mcg of MK-7 lowered the progression of carotid artery atherosclerosis.
